MP Group UK were appointed principal contractor by Scottish Power Renewables to deliver a 10MW solar facility adjacent the existing Carland Cross Wind Farm, in Newquay.

Being a combined hybrid/solar renewable generation facility, it is the first of its kind in the UK.

The project involved the formation of access roads and pathways, windfarm perimeter fencing, cable ducting, supply and installation of ground mounted solar frames, installation of Solar PV modules, also the installation of transformers and inverters. Works to allow the export of the power involved the supply installation and laying of 7 miles of HV cable by cable ploughing together with the cable infrastructure and connection to the National Grid.
